June Newsletter 2022
For the 2022 DLN Industry Internship programme, we received a large number of excellent applications. We are excited that eight PhD candidates from UiO, UiT, UiB, and NTNU will be starting their placements this fall. Their projects range from AI-assisted retrosynthesis planning of drug molecules, to recirculating aquaculture systems, improving high throughput analysis, and more. We wish these PhD interns productive learning experiences in the months ahead!
This week young scientists are convening outside Oslo for the 6th annual Digital Life Research School Conference. This is a great opportunity for young scientists to exchange research ideas, share experiences, and make connections across the Digital Life community.
The dramatic signals of budget cuts at the Research Council of Norway we still do not know the conclusion of, but we certainly hope that new digital biotechnology projects will be funded and started in 2023 that see the value of partnering with DLN.
Looking ahead, DLN is co-hosting summer schools in Collaborative scientific software development (Bergen, together with NORBIS) as well as Engaging in critical research within institutions (Oslo, together with AFINO). We are also excited to announce the program for our biotechnology innovation event in Arendalsuka, which will kickstart the second half of 2022. We hope to see many of you there in August.
Enjoy the summer!
