Mid-infrared spectroscopy with a fiber-coupled tuneable quantum cascade laser for glucose sensing

APT member Ine Larsen Jernelv har published encouraging results, summarized as follows:

"A fiber-coupled laser-based spectroscopy setup has been developed and demonstrated for measurements of aqueous solutions containing glucose and other interfering analytes. The accuracy for predicted concentrations is comparable to state-of-the-art enzymatic glucose sensors, and is encouraging for further research on optics-based glucose sensors."

The study was presented at the Photonics West conference in San Francisco, California, 1–6 Feb 2020, and the conference paper is available here.

Ine is pursuing her PhD degree at Dept. of Electronic Systems, NTNU, and she is supervised by Dag Roar Hjelme and Astrid Aksnes.
