More information about the speakers
Hanne Haslene-Hox defended her thesis in cancer proteomics from University of Bergen in 2013, and has since worked in the research institute SINTEF in Trondheim. She is currently working as a senior research scientist in SINTEF Industry, department of Biotechnology and Nanomedicine, with projects covering a broad spectre of topics within medical biotechnology. Haslene-Hox has been involved with a number of Digital Life projects since 2017, and has been a member of the Expert Task Force of Digital Life Norway since 2021.
Lisa Tietze: After a PhD in biotechnology, I worked at Oslo University Hospital as an engineer. Recently, I transitioned to an R&D project leader position in industry. In this position I develop and improve in vitro diagnostic medical devices for SERO AS. I am happy to share insights into the application and transitioning process and how it and the work differs from academia.
Christian Schulz: I did my PhD in Systems biology at NTNU followed by a postdoc in the same group. The first project was EU based, the PostDoc project a DLN project with several partners in Norway. After I moved from Trondheim to Moss, south of Oslo, I decided to switch away from science and transitioned into a data science position at BaneNor in Oslo. Currently I am looking for options south of Oslo.
Laura Garcia Calvo: As a veterinarian by education that did a PhD and postdoc in biotechnology, I have experience in adapting to new roles. I currently work as a scientist in food microbiology at the Norwegian research institute Nofima. I will share my tips and take on how it can be to apply for and transition to a position outside of academia after a postdoc.
Kathleen Heck: I began my career as a medical scientist, where I noticed the major gaps existing in diagnostic settings. This led me to cancer research focused on novel diagnostic methods. Later, I moved to industry, gaining experience in both established and start-up companies. Currently, I work remotely from Oslo as a product specialist for the Danish company Axlab. I'll discuss transitioning from academia to industry as well as the value of academic skills in the private sector.
We look forward to seeing you there and exploring innovative ways to navigate your career journey!
