Tromsø meet-up: Navigating the Future: Strategic Career Planning for Young Researchers

The Junior Resource Group in Tromsø invites you to our series of social gatherings under the scope of “Navigating Academic Life.”

Registration is closed.

What is it about: A vision and plan for one’s career helps them in investing their energy and efforts constructively, prioritizing opportunities and challenges, and actively working towards realizing their career vision.

What will we do: We will briefly discuss the difference between a job/position and a career.  The students will understand on how to think about career and make a first draft of their career development plan.  The students will reflect on their current career stage, assess or formulate a vision for their career, identify practical career objectives, and develop an action plan. Students may use this plan for further discussion with their supervisor and refinement.

Post-Workshop Action: The students are encouraged to discuss their draft career development plans with their supervisor/employer and agree on some action points collectively, actively follow up and revise their plan as needed. The ultimate goal is to help participants find a clear sense of purpose and accelerate their path towards realizing their career vision.

After the session: The participants and the speaker will move to a social arena where one round of game (Bowling or Mini-Golf will be sponsored by the Research School). The cost of drinks and further round of games need to be bear by the participant themselves.
