Tromsø meet-up: Positioning Yourself for Academic and Industry Careers in Norway and Beyond

The Junior Resource Group and TNNN PhD council in Tromsø invites you to our series of social gatherings under the scope of “Navigating Academic Life.”

14:30 - 16:30 (Workshop & pizza at UiT)
17:30 - 19:30 (Social gathering for networking and further discussion, location TBA)

A PhD or Postdoc is more than a research qualification – it is a launchpad for your next career move. But how do you translate your expertise into a compelling profile for the global job market, whether in academia or industry? This interactive workshop will give you the tools, insights, and guided practice to stand out in Norway and internationally.

Through this workshop you will:
• Learn the key differences between academic and industry career paths across countries
• Understand how to highlight your research expertise and transferable skills for different audiences
• Discover what hiring committees and recruiters look for - and how to meet those expectations
• Build visibility through publications, networking, and professional branding
• Work on your own CV for both an academic and an industry case-study position, with guided feedback

By the end of the session, you will leave with two targeted CV drafts - one tailored for an academic role, and another for an industry position - ready to refine and send out anywhere in the world.

Who should attend:
PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career academics exploring careers in Norway and beyond.
